O-1A Awards & Recognition Criterion

How to prove you have received nationally or internationally recognised awards.

USCIS wants to see nationally or internationally recognised prizes or awards for excellence in your field. The word 'nationally or internationally recognised' matters — a company-internal 'Employee of the Year' award doesn't qualify. What matters is that the award is issued by a recognised body and is competitive within your specific field.

How we build this criterion

Rank awards by tier

We categorise awards into major-industry / national / regional / competitive-program tiers so the strongest sit at the top of the exhibit.

Document each awarding body

Every award submitted includes evidence of the awarding body's history, selectivity, and recognition in the field.

Corroborate with press

We attach press coverage of each award or recognition so USCIS reads it as recognised in the field, not just an internal or paid certificate.
