The memberships criterion under 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(o)(3)(iv)(A)(2) requires membership in associations that demand outstanding achievements of their members, as judged by recognized national or international experts. The American Association of Biological Anthropologists (AABA) does not require extraordinary achievement for basic membership, so membership alone does not satisfy this criterion. However, election as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in the anthropology section qualifies, as does election to the National Academy of Sciences or a comparable elected fellowship.
